SUBTĪLITĀS (latin; noun f., 3rd):

fineness of texture, logic, detail; slenderness, exactness, acuteness; sharpness : precision



Aires Mateus - Casa en Alenquer, 2002.  A new house situated on the grounds of a dilapidated historic structure. The existing walls were kept and resurfaced, maintaining a paired down, abstracted skeletal structure that surrounds the new building. The house was designed on a strict north-south axis, creating surprisingly tense moments as it interacts with the undulating walls of the existing structure, which hug the irregularly shaped site.
